SAR Experiments in a Bistatic Hybrid Configuration for Generat- ing PolInSAR Data with TerraSAR-X Illumination

چکیده
In summer 2009 the SAR research group of the Center for Sensorsystems (ZESS) started a project to generate high resolution SAR data, which is acquired by a stationary receiver. As illuminator for our experiments the German TerraSAR-X satellite is used, which can generate frequency modulated signals with a bandwidth up to 300MHz. We intend to acquire the direct satellite signal and the backscattered signal from the scene with a stationary X-band receiver, mounted on the roofs of high buildings, or on bridges looking into valleys, etc. After giving some basics of the bistatic SAR interferometry, this paper presents an insight into our experiments we have done in the field of interferometry and polarimetry.

Focusing Bistatic SAR Data in Double Sliding Spotlight Mode with TerraSAR-X and PAMIR Based on Azimuth Chirp Filtering
This paper concentrates on the Doppler spectrum characteristics of hybrid bistatic SAR experiments, i.e., TerraSAR-X/PAMIR where TerraSAR-X was steered as the illuminator in the sliding spotlight mode, and PAMIR, mounted on a Transall C-160, operated in the inverse sliding spotlight mode. The bistatic Double Sliding Spotlight (DSS) experiment has been successfully performed in March 2009. For t...
متن کاملBistatic Experiment Using TerraSAR-X and DLR’s new F-SAR System
A bistatic X-band experiment was successfully performed early November 2007. TerraSAR-X was used as transmitter and DLR’s new airborne radar system F-SAR, which was programmed to acquire data in a quasicontinuous mode to avoid echo window synchronization issues, was used as bistatic receiver. Precise phase and time referencing between both systems, which is essential for obtaining high resoluti...
متن کاملNew processing approach and results for bistatic TerraSAR-X/F-SAR spaceborne-airborne SAR experiments
In November 2007, the first bistatic SAR spaceborne-airborne X-band campaign was carried out , using TerraSAR-X as transmitter and DLR’s new airborne SAR system F-SAR as receiver [1]. The importance of the experiment was not only due to its pioneering character, but also to its potential to serve as a test-bed for the validation of non-stationary bistatic acquisition procedures, novel calibrati...
متن کاملEfficient Time-Domain Focussing for General Bistatic SAR Con- figurations: Bistatic Fast Factorised Backprojection
Due to the lack of an appropriate symmetry in the acquisition geometry, generalised bistatic SAR cannot benefit from the two main properties of low-to-moderate resolution monostatic SAR: azimuth-invariance and topography-insensitivity. Precise accommodation of azimuth-variance and topography is a real challenge for efficent algorithms working in the Fourier-domain, but can be quite naturally ha...

Future biand multistatic SAR systems could support the scientific community and the commercial market with an additional and powerful tool for imaging and exploration of interesting areas on earth. With the diversity of geometries between transmitter and receivers one can achieve for instance improvements in scene classification, extractions of particular features, and cost reduction. New promi...
